We ALFI stands for Wendy & Alan Field. The late Wendy Field set up her business in 1969. Wendy and Alan started out restoring antique pine furniture, and gradually as people were keen to have pieces that actually matched throughout their homes they started to make reproduction pine furniture. The reproduction furniture took off as they were asked to make a larger variety of pieces. The business quickly found a niche in the made to measure aspect and expanded into kitchens, which now occupies most of our workshop time. Wendy and Alan kept a shop on the High Street in Harborne, Birmingham for 30 years, until 2006 when they retired from the shop. The business now retails mostly by word of mouth in the Harborne area and the Welsh Marches.
Alan measures for and designs with the customer, all of our furniture. He has many years of practical knowledge and experience of furniture design.
Wendy and Alan’s son Marcus has grown up with the furniture trade and now makes much of We ALFI’s furniture and manages our workshop in Wales.
Sarah, Marcus’s partner has a background in interior finishes. Sarah helps Alan with the measuring and designing of your orders and the day to day running of the business.
